As he grew older, his passion for racing became more and more evident, and Oscar began to participate in karting competitions in his native country. He quickly excelled in karting at the local and national level, displaying great talent on the track and gaining valuable experience in competition. Piastri's success in karting led him to take the next step in his career and move into the single-seater series. In 2017, he made his single-seater debut in the New South Wales Single-Seater Championship, where he began to gain experience driving bigger and more powerful racing cars. Piastri's real break came in 2018 when he entered Australian Formula 4, a series that allowed him to compete at a national level and showcase his single-seater racing skills to a wider audience.
