Max Emilian Verstappen was born on September 30, 1997 in Hasselt, Belgium. He is the son of Jos Verstappen, a former Formula 1 driver, and Sophie Kumpen, a Belgian karting driver. Although he was born in Belgium, he chose to compete under the flag of the Netherlands due to his Dutch ancestry and nationality. From an early age, Max showed great interest in motorsports due to his family's influence. His father, Jos Verstappen, competed in Formula 1 and his mother, Sophie, also had a deep connection to karting. This early exposure to the world of motorsports helped spark his passion for racing.

Max began his karting career at a young age, following in the footsteps of his mother and father. He quickly demonstrated exceptional talent in this sport and began winning races and championships at local and regional levels in Belgium and the Netherlands. His aggressive driving style and his ability to overtake other competitors caught the attention of the motorsports community. In 2013, Max Verstappen made the leap to single-seaters, competing in Formula Renault 2.0 for the Van Amersfoort Racing team. During his rookie season, he impressed everyone with his speed and passing skills. The following year, he continued in the same category but with a different team, Red Bull Junior Team, and won the championship with great authority. His success in Formula Renault 2.0 caught the eye of Red Bull Racing, who selected him to join their young driver program in 2014.

For 2015, Max moved up to European Formula 3 with the Van Amersfoort Racing team and continued to showcase his talents. by winning several races and fighting at the front of the field. His impressive performance in Formula 3 caught the attention of more Formula 1 teams and in August 2014, Red Bull Racing announced that Max Verstappen would race for their team in the 2015 Formula 1 season, making him the youngest ever driver. to debut in the category. His debut came at the Australian Grand Prix in 2015, at the age of 17. This early stage of his life is marked by his rapid ascent through the motorsport categories and his ability to quickly adapt to new challenges. A year in which Max Verstappen struggled with some reliability issues and accidents that limited his results. However, he demonstrated his stamina and determination by winning the Malaysian Grand Prix, becoming the youngest driver to win multiple Formula 1 races.

2018

Verstappen continued to be a contender in Formula 1 racing in 2018. He achieved podium finishes in several races and demonstrated his ability to overcome difficult situations. Despite some incidents and difficult moments, his overall performance was impressive and he showed steady progress.

2019

Max Verstappen continued his success with Red Bull Racing. He took his first victory of the season at the Austrian Grand Prix, in a thrilling home race for the team. Consistent with his performance, he racked up podiums and points at various races throughout the year.

2020

This season was challenging due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which affected the racing schedule. However, Verstappen did take victories at the British Grand Prix and the 70th Anniversary Grand Prix at Silverstone. He continued to show his ability to compete at the front of the grid.

2021

In the season, Verstappen and Red Bull Racing became serious contenders for the world championship. They battled against the Mercedes team for supremacy in the category. Verstappen had several victories and had an exciting battle with Lewis Hamilton until the end of the season.

2022

The start of this season didn't seem to affect Max in the slightest. Despite a spectacular start for Scuderia Ferrari, which took a one-two finish at the Bahrain Grand Prix, and initial problems with Honda's power unit, Max soon began to assert his dominance. Remarkably, Max Verstappen needed just six races to climb to the lead in the Drivers' Championship. Beginning with the race at Imola, where Charles Leclerc made his first mistake of the season, the Dutch driver achieved five victories out of six possible. To make matters worse for Ferrari, their F1-75 cars began to face serious reliability problems, further strengthening Verstappen's position.

His second impressive run started in France and was even more amazing. He won eight of nine Grands Prix in this phase. If it weren't for Red Bull's monumental mistake during qualifying for the Singapore Grand Prix, we could be talking about a run similar to, or even better than, Sebastian Vettel's in the 2013 season. The initial surprise generated by Ferrari soon gave way to absolute dominance by Red Bull, and Max Verstappen knew how to capitalize on this advantage. The Dutch driver concluded the 2022 season with a record of 15 wins, seven pole positions and 17 podium finishes. He clinched the title in Japan, with four Grands Prix remaining on the calendar. Ferrari's initial narrative quickly faded in the face of Red Bull's firm control, and Verstappen once again demonstrated his undeniable skill. Putting in an exceptional performance throughout the season, he left an indelible mark by capturing the title before the curtain fell on the championship.

2023

Max Verstappen dominated the 2023 Formula 1 season, claiming his third consecutive world title. He won 19 of the year’s 22 races, setting a new record for wins in a single season. His consistency and superiority with the Red Bull RB19 made him virtually unbeatable. He secured the championship at the Qatar Grand Prix, several races early. He achieved 12 consecutive victories, surpassing Sebastian Vettel’s previous record. His performance was key to Red Bull also winning the Constructors’ Championship. He closed the season with 575 points, the most in F1 history up to that point.

2024

Max Verstappen kicked off the 2024 Formula 1 season with a dominant win at the Bahrain Grand Prix, taking his fifth grand slam by leading every lap from pole and setting the fastest lap. He continued his winning streak in Saudi Arabia, taking his 100th Formula 1 podium. However, in Australia, he suffered his first retirement since 2022 due to brake failure, interrupting a streak of nine consecutive victories. Despite this setback, Verstappen maintained a high level of performance, taking multiple wins and pole positions throughout the season. At the Miami Grand Prix, he was overtaken by Lando Norris, who took his first win in the category, relegating Verstappen to second place. Throughout the year, he faced challenges from McLaren and Ferrari, but his consistency allowed him to maintain a lead in the championship. Verstappen ultimately secured his fourth consecutive world title, cementing his position as one of the most successful drivers in Formula 1 history.
