Oliver Bearman began his career in motorsport through karting, competing in national and international tournaments, where he stood out for his talent and speed. His success in karting allowed him to make the jump to single-seaters in 2020, making his debut in ADAC Formula 4 and Italian Formula 4 with US Racing. In 2021, he had an outstanding season by being crowned champion in both categories, achieving multiple victories and establishing himself as one of the young promises of motorsport. Thanks to these achievements, he was selected to be part of the Ferrari Driver Academy at the end of that same year. His entry into the Ferrari academy marked a key point in his career, giving him the opportunity to continue his development in higher categories and bringing him closer to Formula 1. These first years were fundamental in consolidating his reputation and preparing him for more demanding challenges in motorsport.
2024
In the 2024 Formula 1 season, 19-year-old British driver Oliver Bearman made his debut for Ferrari at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, replacing Carlos Sainz Jr. due to appendicitis. This made him the first driver to debut for Ferrari since Arturo Merzario in 1972 and the first Briton to compete for the team since Eddie Irvine in 1999. Bearman was subsequently confirmed as reserve driver for Ferrari and Haas, sharing responsibilities with other drivers. He also took part in free practice sessions and testing for both teams, gaining experience and demonstrating his potential in the top category of motorsport.
