The Alfa Romeo F1 team became the official test team for the Ferrari V10 engine, and participated in some Formula 1 Grands Prix as a test team.

Alfa Romeo returned to F1 as engine supplier to the Ligier team. The partnership proved unsuccessful, and after just one season Alfa Romeo decided to abandon its role as engine supplier to F1.
