Born in London but racing for Thailand, Alexander Albon's passion for Formula 1 began at a young age. Despite narrowly missing out on the GP3 title in 2016, he continued to rise through the ranks, winning the Formula 2 championship in 2018. Albon made his Formula 1 debut with Toro Rosso in 2019 and impressed with his performances, leading to his mid-season promotion to Red Bull Racing. Although he faced challenges in 2020 and was dropped from the driver lineup, he remained as a test and reserve driver. In 2022, Albon returned to the grid with Williams, determined to seize his second chance in Formula 1. Known for his easy-going nature and driving skills, he aims to seize this rare opportunity and make his mark on the sport.

In 2006, at the age of 8, Alexander Albon began his career in karting, where he achieved remarkable success, consistently finishing in the top three in various championships. Albon continued to compete in karting until 2011, competing at British and European level and becoming a multiple-time champion. During this time, he competed against future Formula 1 stars such as Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen. In 2012, Albon made the transition to single-seaters and began racing in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup. During his time in this series, he achieved outstanding results that laid the foundation for his future career in motorsports. In 2014, Alexander Albon continued his rise in motorsport by competing in the GP3 Series, where he achieved an impressive third place overall.

These solid performances allowed him to further progress in his career. In 2018, Albon participated in the FIA Formula 2 Championship, where he secured wins, podiums and pole positions, finishing third in the championship. His performances in this Formula 1 development category drew the attention of top-flight teams. Finally, in 2019, Alexander Albon made his Formula 1 debut with the Scuderia Toro Rosso team (now known as AlphaTauri). In addition to his participation in Formula 1, Albon also competed in the DTM with the AF Corse team, where he achieved a victory.

2019

Alexander Albon debuted in Formula 1 in 2019 with Scuderia Toro Rosso at the Australian Grand Prix. Midway through the season, he was promoted to Red Bull Racing to replace Pierre Gasly, racing alongside Max Verstappen. He achieved several notable results and finished the season in sixth place in the Drivers' Championship.

2020

Albon continued with Red Bull Racing in 2020. He scored his first Formula 1 podium at the Tuscan Grand Prix at Mugello. Despite some standout moments he also faced challenges alongside Verstappen, finishing the season seventh in the Drivers' Championship.

2021

Albon did not compete in Formula 1 as a race driver in 2021 after leaving Red Bull Racing. He spent the year as a test and reserve driver, focused on analyzing his performance and planning his return to the grid.

2022

Albon returned to Formula 1 full-time in 2022 with Williams Racing. He described it as his strongest season in F1, working closely with the team to demonstrate his abilities and continue his development as a driver.

2023

Albon continued with Williams in 2023 alongside new teammate Logan Sargeant. He established himself as one of the strongest midfield drivers, consistently extracting the maximum from a competitive but limited package.

2024

In 2024, Albon remained with Williams and showed consistent performances. His best result was a 7th place, scoring points at Emilia-Romagna, Great Britain, and Italy. Despite retirements and technical difficulties at several rounds, he remained competitive throughout the year and demonstrated his ability to extract results from a team with limited resources.

2025

In 2025, Albon delivered what he himself described as his best season yet in Formula 1. Paired with new teammate Carlos Sainz, he thrived in a significantly improved Williams FW47, achieving three fifth-place finishes in Australia, Miami, and Emilia-Romagna. He finished eighth in the Drivers' Championship, contributing the majority of Williams' points as the team secured fifth in the Constructors' standings — their best result since 2017. Despite three consecutive DNFs in Spain, Austria, and Great Britain, Albon bounced back strongly after the summer break, scoring points in four of the five surrounding races following cooling fixes on the car. He credited the partnership with Sainz and the team's technical leap as the key factors behind his breakthrough campaign.
