History and Construction
- Designed by Hermann Tilke and opened in 2009, it was the first Abu Dhabi Grand Prix event.
- It is located on a 2,550 hectare artificial island. Its construction was carried out on a reclaimed land base.
- Yas Marina was a pioneer in Formula 1 by being the first circuit to host an event that starts at dusk and finishes at night.
- The circuit is integrated with the W Abu Dhabi Yas Island Hotel, which extends over the track, and the Yas Marina.
- The circuit features modern and safe infrastructure, including a pit lane exit tunnel that runs beneath the track.
Design and Features
- Yas Marina is one of the few Formula 1 tracks that is driven counterclockwise.
- Before the 2021 modifications, the circuit was notable for its 1.2-kilometer straight connecting Turns 7 and 8.
- The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is the only event of the season that starts in daylight and finishes at night.
- The circuit is home to the world's fastest roller coaster, and the Yas Waterworld water park is located just beyond the track.
- A longer pit stop means more lost time, forcing teams to manage their pit stops with great precision.
